Introduction

Social media is the new reality that is changing the world and diffusing at an unpredictable rate. Social media prevalence generates ‘mega’ data that can be analyzed to detect and benefit from ‘nuggets’. In recent decades the emergence of new data analysis technologies has resulted in processing data from social media and web into insights for information-driven businesses. Social media and web analytics is an interdisciplinary area that is used in social science and computer science interchangeably. This area offers new challenges and exciting opportunities for researchers from multiple disciplines such as information systems, social sciences, international management, leadership and political science. Given the richness and the potential of social media and web analytics, it is essential to brainstorm and bring to light the diverse points of view in order to develop underlying theory and frameworks. The aim of this track is to accomplish these objectives.
